2026 Harvest Coordinator: 1 Opening – Full Time

The Harvest Coordinator is a full-time management and farming position. They are responsible for organizing, tracking, and leading the harvest of a diversity of crops. This includes, identifying areas to harvest, projecting future harvest yields, relaying order updates to the crew, and field scouting. They will be joining a vibrant crew of six experienced, thoughtful, and team-oriented farmers. These individuals manage other areas of the farm but come together in the morning to harvest the more heat sensitive crops. They rely on the Harvest Coordinator to provide direction, leadership, and organization. Afternoons are often spent in the washpack barn packing produce and managing completion of the packlist. The Harvest Coordinator completes the afternoon packlist assessment with the Washpack Lead. Harvest crew members, Coordinator included, also take part in transplanting crops, trellising, and other field projects in the spring and fall.

Work Commitment:

  • Hours: 7:15 am to 4:30pm, with a 30 min unpaid lunch. In the height of the summer some workdays will go longer into the afternoon.
    March-December: Monday through Friday
  • January-February: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (7:30am to 3:30pm) If the individual would like to continue the 5 day week work they are welcome to but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Second Harvest Coordinator to plan and lead an experienced harvest crew of 5-6 individuals in the harvest of the following crops:
    Leafy Greens: Spinach, lettuce leaf, salad mix, arugula, other minor bagged leafy crops.
    Bunched Greens and Vegetables: Kales, collards, chard, radishes, turnips, beets, carrots, parsley, basil, dill, and cilantro. Interface with crop leads in peppers, tomatoes, peas, beans, onions.
  • Communicate harvest timelines, projected harvest volumes, quality, and pack list changes to the Wash Pack Lead and Sales Coordinator.
  • Keep detailed records of yields/bed and bed number.
  • Safe operation and maintenance of harvest equipment.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, healthy work culture with proactive communication style and a supportive attitude.
  • Assess plant growth, pests, weed types, and water needs and communicate observations to the management team.
  • Work with Wash Pack Lead to ensure all market and wholesale orders are completed by distribution schedule and communicate needs or issues as they arise.
  • Make weekly wholesale availability assessments based on field volumes with their Co-Harvest Coordinator and crop leads.
  • Support other crop leads in the harvest of crops like peppers, tomatoes, peas, beans, onions.
  • Support the transplanting, trellising, and weeding of crops.
  • Follow and maintain Food Safety SOP outlined in the Goranson Farm Handbook.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of commercial farming experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly through the day and work in a hip hinge, kneeling and squatted position
  • The ability to make decisions collaboratively as well as individually and communicate them effectively to team members.

Wage and Benefits:

  • $21/hr + depending on experience
  • Cell phone use stipend ~$15/Month. In lew of walkie talkies we use our cell phones daily to communicate with farm managers
  • Gear Stipend after 1 year of work and commitment to work the following year.

2026 Greens and Vegetable Wash Pack Coordinator:

The Wash pack Coordinator is the organizational force behind the completion of the daily packlist. They work intimately with the Harvest Coordinators, Sales Coordinator, and an experienced team of 3-4 individuals. The wash pack coordinator ensures orders are cleaned and allocated to the correct market. The wash/pack Coordinator verifies produce quality standards are met, equipment is cleaned, and food safety procedures are followed. End of day, they collaborate with the Harvest coordinator to review the Master Packlist and ensure that orders are completed and allocated to the correct market. They will be working with a sales platform, and spreadsheets to track orders and manage inventory. 

We are just putting the finishing touches on a new wash pack barn this spring. This new space has allowed for the purchase of several pieces of equipment to ease the physical demands of washing produce. The washpack Coordinator ensures the equipment is maintained, runs smoothly, and will be integral in dialing in settings for each crop. 

Work Commitment:

Working Wednesday’s isn’t required, but if the individual wants to that is welcome. We recognize that during winter months it’s nice to take some time off to recharge. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Harvest and Sales Coordinator and an experienced washpack crew of three to four individuals in the washing and packing of the following crops:
    • Leafy Greens: primarily spinach, lettuce leaf, salad mix, and arugula. 
    • Bunched Greens and Vegetables: Kales, collard, chard, radishes, turnips, beets, carrots, parsley, basil, dill, and cilantro. 
    • Confirm other crops are allocated to markets and orders.
  • Communicate pack list changes to the Harvest and Sales Coordinators.
  • Packlist management: Accurately check off each individual packed item and track what needs to be completed. Double check that orders are entered correctly. 
  • Coordinate completion of the pack list with individuals in the wash pack.
  • Ensure food safety Records required FSMA are kept. 
  • Safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of wash pack equipment including electric fork trucks, greens washlines, barrel washers, rinse conveyors and greens spinners
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, healthy work culture with proactive communication style and a supportive attitude. 
  • Troubleshoot packing errors and work with Sales, Harvest, and Farm coordinators to develop systems for reducing errors.
  • Follow and maintain Food Safety SOP outlined in the Goranson Farm Handbook.

2026 Field Crew/Farmers: 4 Openings – Full Time

We’re looking for experienced vegetable farmers to join our crew! Have you been missing farming all winter and want to jump back in? Want to learn the ins and outs of winter vegetable farming? Interested in hitting the summer season running with the skills required to take on responsibility and pursue independent projects?

Goranson Farm is a diversified year-round organic vegetable farm in Dresden. Our dynamic and diverse crew is good-humored, thoughtful, and motivated; together we grow and harvest veggies and fruit for three winter markets, five summer markets, year round wholesale accounts, and one of Maine’s longest running Community Supported Agriculture programs. We have been growing on the same piece of land since 1960 and community is everything to us.

Priority is given to Applicants Who:
– Work collaboratively within a large and talented crew.
– Have a strong sense of motivation, sustained attention to detail, and get-it-done attitude
– Can work full-time
– Commit to work through the harvest season (Mid-November). (We have full-time winter work available)
– Can lift 50lbs repeatedly, work bent over/squatting for full days outdoors in all weather.
– Have experience in produce handling and production-scale vegetable or fruit growing.
